Malika Brown-Brothers is an accomplished Nonprofit Leader with over 18 years of experience as an administrative professional, and nonprofit leader. Throughout her career, Malika has consistently saved organizations time and fostered business growth through effective admin support and strategic planning.
In her previous roles as Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Officer, Malika successfully increased organizational revenue, engaged communities, established operational policies and procedures, and enhanced communications and marketing efforts. Her expertise in strategic planning and operational management has consistently yielded tangible outcomes for the organizations she has served.
Malika holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Relations and a Master's degree in Business Management and Leadership from the City University of New York. Her passion for continuous learning and professional development keeps her ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving business landscape.
Outside of work, Malika enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband, kids, and energetic bichon poodle. She is highly regarded for her exceptional leadership skills, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to helping organizations thrive.
Senior Director of Operations
Meriam Shenouda joined Coming Home in October 2012 after having spent approximately one month volunteering at the organization. As Senior Director of Operations, Meriam assists with the administrative and fiscal operations of all programs, as well as the fiscal management of the organization. Her organizational and publishing skills also makes her indispensable in our fundraising and issuance of publications, including our Annual Reports. Meriam has over 14 years of employment experience, working for international organizations, providing public relations and general office management services in multi-cultural environments. She is also engaged in several ministries sponsored by, and affiliated with, the Coptic Orthodox Church, serving poor families and assisting young couples with financial needs. Meriam has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce & Accounting from the University of Alexandria, Egypt.

System Access Navigator
Crystal Crawford joined Coming Home in 2023 to assist Coming Home implement the County’s enhancement of the homelessness system’s Coordinated Entry/Assessment process. She will be working offsite in the city of New Brunswick to provide greater access to residents to the system of help. She most recently worked as a Case Manager/HMIS Specialist of East Orange/Orange Community Development Corporation, where was employed for over 20 years.
Crystal is a member of the NAACP of the Oranges & Maplewood, volunteered as an Auxiliary Police Officer for 8 years with the Metuchen Police Department, received Rutgers University SNAP Food Handler Certification, NJHMFA HMIS Site Administrator and User Certification and ROMA Certification. She graduated from East Orange High School and pursued her higher education at Union County College.
Crystal is most proud of her achievements in community service and is committed to improving the quality of life for homeless and low income individuals/families. Her goal is to create an environment that empowers, educates, and motivates others to become self-sufficient, live to their fullest potential, and encourages them to give back to the community.
She is currently married to her high school sweetheart for 18 years and has two beautiful children. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, volunteering, and spending time with her family and friends.
Lead Access Navigator
Cassandra has been with Coming Home since 2016 serving in different capacities. She started as an Access Navigator, filled the role of processing applications for State vouchers, provided case management for the Covid Vulnerable population and is now Lead Access Navigator. As such, she oversees the return calls from 211 callers and their appropriate initial referral for assistance and coordinates the activities of our new physical sites providing access to the system of help. Cassandra has many years' experience working in the community with homeless clients as well as providing social services to individuals in need. She is a New Brunswick native & has volunteered at local agencies serving Middlesex County families. Currently, Cassandra resides in Edison with her daughter.
System Access Navigator
Kayla McCellon joined Coming Home in September 2021 as a Case Manager and Social Services Navigator. She initially worked in the Diversion program and is now using her considerable skills to assist with the system’s enhanced Coordinated Entry/Assessment process and coordinating the multiple agency case conferencing initiative. Kayla is outreaching persons not yet connected to our system of help through community partners in multiple towns in the County. She also maintains a relationship with the Chancery Division of Middlesex County Superior Court where she provides guidance and resources for those going through the foreclosure process.
Kayla currently attends Rutgers University New Brunswick as she is pursuing her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. She has a knowledge and passion for working with those who have faced or are facing traumatic experiences. She is also involved with research on the topic of diversity, racial dynamics, and non-traditional family structures.
Access Navigator
Chris joined Coming Home in September 2024 as an Access Navigator, bringing with him a wealth of experience in community organizing. Prior to this role, Chris worked with Catholic Charities, where he was involved in advocating for, and supporting, vulnerable populations. His passion for social justice and his commitment to helping those in need, especially within the homeless community, are at the core of his work. As a native of New Brunswick, Chris has a deep-rooted connection to the city and a personal drive to make it a better place for everyone. He understands the unique challenges faced by the local community and works tirelessly to ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness are met with compassion, resources, and opportunities for a better future. With a background in advocacy and a deep love for his hometown, Chris is dedicated to creating lasting, positive change in New Brunswick, striving to build a more inclusive and supportive community for all.

Clermise Corgelas is a dedicated professional who joined Coming Home in March 2023 as a System Access Navigator, bringing with her a wealth of experience in working with immigrant populations. With a passion for serving vulnerable communities, Clermise strives to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
Clermise earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in May 2023. She is dedicated to provide compassionate assistance and empowering resources to individuals experiencing homelessness. Her collaborative approach and commitment to advocating for systemic change make her an invaluable asset in the fight against homelessness.
Currently, Clermise is pursuing a Master’s degree in clinical health counseling at Kean University. This educational pursuit reflects her commitment to expanding her knowledge and skills to better serve individuals facing mental health challenges.
With her unique blend of academic training, professional experience, and genuine passion for helping others, Clermise is poised to make lasting strides in Coming Home’s mission to spearhead the fight against homelessness.

Coming Home co-leads the County’s Housing Continuum of Care Committee (CoC), which coordinates planning and management of services funded by HUD, and works in concert with CoC member agencies. We also foster collaboration and partnerships with the leadership of the County’s 25 municipalities, health care entities and affordable housing developers.
