We hosted two delightful and resourceful Rutgers students – Carlos from the medical school and Lisa from the school of public health – as part of the RU Bridging the Gaps program for 6 weeks this summer. The students got the opportunity to address the “social determinants of health” that the medical community has recently acknowledged. They helped the residents of Zebra Way plant a vegetable garden and provided interactive instruction in nutrition and the health issues of interest to the residents.
